Bill McClure, Sr.

August 1, 1928 — January 13, 2015

Bill McClure, Sr., age 86, lifelong resident of the Moscow Community, retired farmer and husband of Dorothy M. "Dot" Brasfield McClure, departed this life Tuesday morning, January 13, 2015 at his residence.

Services of Remembrance for Mr. McClure were conducted at 10 A.M. Friday, January 16th at the Oak Grove Baptist Church in Moscow with Bro. Don Hammons officiating. Interment with Military Honors followed in the Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - West Chapel at Oakland.

Mr. McClure was born August 1, 1928 in Moscow. He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Wesley McClure and Tassy Leona Holmes McClure. He received his education in the Fayette County Public School System and was married June 14, 1951 to Dorothy "Dot" Brasfield, who survives. Mr. McClure was a lifelong resident of the Moscow Community and a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church. He enjoyed being a farmer and bird hunting.

In addition to his wife of 63 years, Mr. McClure is survived by two daughters, Sherrin Willis (Michael) of Moscow, Ramona "Joy" Johnson of Moscow; two sons, Bill McClure, Jr. (Fran) of Moscow, Tim McClure of Moscow; his sister, Olivia Jones of Iuka, MS; and four grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Micah Willis.

Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Jeff Hurdle, William Allen, Will McClure, Jeremy McClure, Chris Wells, Ricky "Bull" Ward, Carl McClure and Doug McClure.

Honorary casketbearers were James McClure, Ronald Jones, Joe David Owens, Tommy Brewer, Mike Willis and Mike Harris.
