BILLIE JO MARR MCNABB, resident of the Somerville Community on Highway 59, retired employee of South Central Bell and wife of Doug McNabb died Sunday afternoon, November 14, 2010 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis where she had been a patient for three weeks. She was 63 years of age and died following a brief illness.
Services of Remembrance were conducted at 2 P.M. Wednesday, November 17
th
at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel with Rev. Ann Bledsoe of Oak Grove United Methodist Church, officiating. Special Remarks were given by her nephew, Daniel Roberts. Interment followed in the Somerville City Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes—Main Chapel of Somerville.
A native of Memphis, Mrs. McNabb was born November 8, 1947, the daughter of Dessie Eubanks Marr and William T. Marr, Jr. She was a graduate of Central High School in Memphis and continued her education at the University of Tennessee at Martin and the Memphis Business College.
She was married September 20, 1975 to Douglas Wray “Doug” McNabb, Fayette County Farmer, who survives. Mrs. McNabb was a member of the Oak Grove United Methodist Church in Fayette County and had been a resident of the Somerville Community for the past thirty-five years.
She was employed by the South Central Bell Company in Memphis for twenty-five years and after her retirement served as a cashier for the Wal-Mart Corporation in Oakland. Mrs. McNabb enjoyed needlework and preparing food for her family. She received much enjoyment from her pet dog, “Benji”.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. McNabb is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. William T. Marr, Jr. of Collierville, her brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. William T. Marr, III of Collierville, her mother-in-law, Mrs. Cleo McNabb of Somerville, her sister-in-law and husband, Mr. and Mrs. James R. Roberts of Clinton, Mississippi, three nephews, Ron Roberts, Daniel Roberts and Blake Marr.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were
Bobby Bosi, Vernon Dollahite, Jerry Hazelrig, Blake Marr, William T. Marr, III, Russ Roberts and Michael Tapp.
