Billy Ray Canady, Jr., age 70, resident of Oakland, Tennessee and husband of Terrye Canady, departed this life Tuesday morning, April 15, 2025 at his home.

Billy was born January 1, 1955 in Memphis, Tennessee, the son of the late Billy Ray Canady, Sr. and Peggy Vickers Canady. He graduated from Kingsbury High School in 1973 and was employed in road construction for much of his life. He worked for Lehman Roberts for 25 years and the City of Memphis for 25 years before his retirement.

Billy was married October 19, 1979 to Terrye Lemmon Canady and was a member of Lifeline Baptist Church in Macon, Tennessee. He was a volunteer for the Macon Fire Department and Fayette County Rescue for 20 years and a member of the Somerville Police Reserves.

Mr. Canady is survived by his wife of almost 46 years, Terrye Canady of Oakland, TN; his daughter, Brandy Kirkpatrick (Kyle) of Moscow, TN; his son, Billy Ray Canady III (Brittany) of Oakland, TN; two sisters, Vicky Benson (George) and Belinda Markle; four grandchildren, Kaleb Kirkpatrick (Lacey) of Moscow, TN, Kooper Kirkpatrick of Moscow, TN, Waylon Brogdon of Oakland, TN and Dixie Canady of Oakland, TN; his goddaughter, Cheyenne Freeman; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Michael Canady.

Funeral Services for Mr. Canady were held at 2 P.M. Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Thomas Foy, pastor of Lifeline Baptist Church in Macon, officiating. Personal remarks were given by Jason Payne and John Carter. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Jason Payne, Jerry Payne, Justin Payne, John Payne, Clayton Canady and Jacob Jenkins. Honorary pallbearers were Kyle Kirkpatrick, Billy Ray Canady III, Kaleb Kirkpatrick, Kooper Kirkpatrick and Waylon Brogdon.

The family requests that memorials be directed to Lifeline Baptist Church, 8740 Highway 193, Oakland, TN 38060.
