Billy Lee Witt, Sr.

December 19, 1938 — April 15, 2017

Billy Lee Witt, Sr., age 78, resident of Moscow and husband of the late Sadie Harbin Witt, departed this life Saturday morning, April 15, 2017 at his residence.

Services and Interment for Mr. Witt were private. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mr. Witt was born December 19, 1938 in the Vildo Community of Haywood County, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward Lemuel Witt and Bertha Dora Watson Witt and his stepfather, Oscar Ole Evans. He was a graduate of Central School in the Hillville Community and was employed as a plant maintenance mechanic for Glasteel before his retirement. Mr. Witt was a former resident of Collierville before moving to Fayette County in August of 2010. Mr. Witt was married November 30, 1963 to the former Sadie Harbin, who preceded him in death on February 14, 2013. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in earlier years and reading and find-a-word puzzles in later years. Mr. Witt will be remembered for his great sense of humor and for being a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Mr. Witt is survived by two daughters, Vanessa McIntyre of Moscow, TN, Bertha “Sissy” Burns (Chuck Watkins) of Somerville, TN; his son, Billy L. Witt, Jr. (Melissa Grant) of Middleton, TN; three sisters, Martha Goldsmith of North Carolina, Carla Wright of Illinois, Barbara Witt of Illinois; four brothers, Danny Witt of Illinois, Tiller Witt of Illinois, Eddie Witt of Illinois, Jerry Witt of Illinois; ten grandchildren, Steven Witt, Hayley Witt (Charlie Watkins), Destiny Witt, Megan Witt, Christina Witt, Tracey Grant, Taylor Randall, Tyler Randall, Tommy Tolentino, Anthony Tolentino; four great-grandchildren, Harley Watkins, Raven Watkins, Jackson Watkins, Sonny Watkins; and his companion dog, G.G.
