Bobby Cyle Feathers, Sr.

April 29, 1931 — October 8, 2011

Bobby Cyle Feathers, Sr., Hornsby resident, retired dispatcher and husband of Doloris Feathers died Saturday morning, October 8, 2011 at the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital in Jackson, TN. He was 80 years of age and died after several years of declining health.

Services of Remembrance for Mr. Feathers were conducted at 11 A.M. Tuesday, October 11th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Bro. David Looney of the Bolivar Church of Christ officiating. Special music was provided by his son-in-law, Steven Ricker. Interment with Military Honors followed in the Oakland Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center — Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mr. Feathers was born April 29, 1931 in the Warren Community. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam Elec Feathers and Elizabeth Williams Feathers. He was educated in the Fayette County Public School System and continued his education by completing the Commerce Traffic Management Course at William R. Moore Technical School in Memphis. He was married September 18, 1953 to the former Doloris Sigler, who survives.

Mr. Feathers was a member of Bolivar Church of Christ. He served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War Conflict. He worked as a dispatcher for the Illinois Central Gulf Railroad Company in Memphis for 27 years before his retirement 17 years ago. An avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and reading, Mr. Feathers will be remembered for his love of nature and sharing many life lessons about nature to his children and family.

In addition to his wife of 58 years, Mr. Feathers is survived by two daughters, Ann Ricker (Steven) of Smyrna, TN, Lynn Smith (Stephen) of Phenix City, AL, his son, Bobby Feathers, Jr. (Lynne) of Oakland, two sisters, Betty LaCroix (Charles) of Collierville, Corine Glover (James) of Williston, seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Mr. Feathers was preceded in death by his brother, Bro. Carl Feathers, longtime pastor of Feathers Chapel Baptist Church.

Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Calvin Moore, Jr., Bob Sigler, Randy Glover, Jerry Mitchell, Gary Byers and Jay Mitchell. Honorary casketbearers were Mr. Feathers great grandchildren, Savannah Noe, Grady Noe, Carly Smith, Taylor Jolly, Cole Jolly and Christopher Peeler.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the Bolivar Church of Christ Youth Group, 1018 West Market Street, Bolivar, TN 38008.
