Bobby Clyde Morris, age 87 resident of Somerville, Tennessee and husband of Bonnie Johnson Morris, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday morning, August 12, 2018 with his family surrounding him.
Funeral Services for Mr. Morris were held at 11 A.M. Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at the First Baptist Church in Somerville with Bro. Carl Doyle of Oakland officiating. Interment with Military Honors followed in the Somerville City Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – Main Chapel of Somerville.
Bobby was born October 31, 1930 to Grady & Clyde Morris of Somerville. He was married to Bonnie Johnson on May 23, 1952 and happily married for 66 years. Bobby graduated from the Fayette County School System and joined the Air Force in 1950. He joined his father in the family business, Grady Morris & Son. He was a very hard-working man and built many prominent buildings and homes in Somerville. Bobby was a deacon for many years at First Baptist Church Somerville. He was instrumental in starting the Jaycees, Fayette Academy and Morris-Chambers Park. He was one of the kindest, sweetest men anyone ever knew.
Mr. Morris is survived by his wife of 66 years, Bonnie Johnson Morris of Somerville, TN; his daughter, Laina Morris Skelton (Jimmy) of Somerville, TN; two sons, Robert Sterling "Bob" Morris (Jane) of Somerville, TN, Richard Keith Morris (Cheryl) of Somerville, TN; eight grandchildren, Adrian Morris, Shawn Morris (Kalura), Katrina Baggott (Nick), Paul Morris, Nick Markle (Ally), Lauren Markle Langfield (Dan), Madison Morris, Scott Morris; and six great-grandchildren, Conner Morris, Brixton Bishop, Cullen Morris, Wyatt Morris, Luke Baggott and Logan Baggott.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Grady Morris and Clyde Winter Morris; two sons, Bobby Clyde Morris, Jr. who died July 9, 1956, Michael Hiram Morris who died June 14, 2017; his sister, Libba Morris; and his brother, Richard Morris.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Adrian Morris, Shawn Morris, Paul Morris, Nick Markle, Scott Morris and Jimmy Skelton. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of First Baptist Church in Somerville.
