BOBBY GENE PRICE, SR.

BOBBY GENE PRICE, SR., a resident of Memphis and native Fayette Countian who was a longtime Sign Installer before his retirement died Sunday morning, December 13, 2009 at his residence. He was 72 years of age and died following an extended illness.

Funeral services for Mr. Price were conducted at 2 P.M. Thursday, December 17th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Rev. Allen Britton, Chaplain of Amedysis Hospice in Memphis, officiating. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-West Chapel of Oakland.

Mr. Price was born in the Williston Community on December 9, 1937. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin Price and Louise Smith Price.

He received his education in the Fayette County Public School System and was married to the former Ruby Jean Robbins, a native of Somerville, who preceded him in death on August 26, 2005.

Mr. Price was of the Baptist faith and was a former resident of the Somerville and Whiteville Communities before moving to Memphis a number of years ago.

He was involved in Business Sign Installation for much of his life and was a longtime employee of the Tanner Peck Sign Company in Memphis before his retirement fourteen years ago.

An avid outdoorsman, Mr. Price will be remembered as a person who enjoyed golfing, hunting and fishing. He was a devoted husband and father who exemplified a strong work ethic throughout his life.

Survivors of Mr. Price include his daughter, Debra L. Wooten of Memphis; his son, Bobby Gene Price, Jr. of Memphis; three brothers: George Price of Somerville; Donnie Price of Branson, MO and Larry Price of Bolivar and six grandchildren.

Those honored to serve as casket bearers included Teresa Bonds, Steve Doyle, Jessie Price and Jeffrey Pugh.
