Bobby Gene Webb, Sr., age 78, resident of Oakland and husband of Mary M. Foster Webb, departed this life Wednesday evening, June 8, 2016 at his residence after a long illness.
A Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Webb will be held by the family. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – West Chapel at Oakland.
Mr. Webb was born September 29, 1937 in Memphis. He received his education at Treadwell High School and was married June 14, 1958 to the former Mary Martin Foster. He was employed as a general foreman for International Harvester in Memphis for a number of years before his retirement. Mr. Webb was a member of the Somerville First Baptist Church. He enjoyed golfing, woodworking, gardening, fishing and coaching sports.
Mr. Webb is survived by his wife of almost 58 years, Mary Martin Foster Webb of Oakland; two daughters, Terri Lynn Jackson and her husband, Tommy, of Lakeland, Kristin Webb Schmidle and her husband, Charlie, of Cordova; two sons, Bobby Gene Webb, Jr. and his wife, Lynn, of Arlington, Richard Wayne Webb of Denham Springs, Louisiana; his sister, Evelyn Nelson of Bartlett; his brother, Billy Webb and his wife, Pam, of Atoka; nine grandchildren, Erika Monk, Blake Webb, Lindsey Webb, Whitney Jackson, Natalie Jackson, Taylor Raffanti, Caity Webb, Brandon Schmidle, Anna Schmidle; and two great-grandchildren, Ellie Victoria Monk and Rhett Wesley Raffanti.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Richard Webb and Willie Mae Scurlock Webb; his son, Rick Webb; four sisters, Louise Meyer, Marie Farris, Claire Webb, Betty Webb; and three brothers, Thomas Webb, Jimmy Webb and Walter Webb.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the church, charity or organization of the donor’s choice.
