Bonnie (Graham) Newby

Bonnie Graham Newby, age 88, resident of Somerville and wife of the late William Alexander Newby, Sr., departed this life Wednesday morning, June 29, 2016 at her residence.
Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Newby were conducted at 1 P.M. Saturday, July 2, 2016 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Rev. Ted Dennis, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Somerville, officiating. Interment followed in the Somerville City Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mrs. Newby was born June 9, 1928 in Fayette County. She received her education in the Fayette County Public School System and worked at the Fair Theater and as a telephone operator for the phone company in early years. She was married June 29, 1956 to William Alexander Newby, Sr. Mrs. Newby was a homemaker throughout her life and was a lifelong resident of Fayette County. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Somerville and enjoyed special times with her family. Mrs. Newby will be remembered for her charming personality and love of laughter.
Mrs. Newby is survived by two sons, Bill Newby of Rossville, David Newby of Somerville; her sister, Doris Pace of Maryville, Tennessee; her brother, Morris “Hot” Graham of Somerville; numerous nieces and nephews; and her special caregivers, Ernestine Scott, Susan Steel and the staff at the National HealthCare Center in Somerville where she resided for four years.
Mrs. Newby was preceded in death by her husband, William Alexander Newby, Sr. who died March 6, 2004; her parents, Albert Jackson Graham and Croday Tisick Graham; two sisters, Ruby Atkeison, Gladys Graham; and five brothers, Herman Graham, Earl Graham, Gordon Graham, Alton Graham and Clinton Graham.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Ray Rosser, Richard Rosser Tom Minor, Jerry Redfearn, Terry Redfearn and Michael Miller. Honorary pallbearers were Larry Graham, Michael Graham, Bobby Miller, Wheeler Whitlow, Dr. John Cude and Miles Morris.
