Bonnie Richardson

BONNIE LOUISE ARMSTRONG RICHARDSON, resident of the Oakland Community and wife of Ben Richardson, Sr., died Wednesday morning, August 10, 2011 at the Baptist Trinity Hospice House in Collierville where she had resided for 8 days. She was 58 years of age and died following an extended illness.

Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Richardson were conducted at 10 A.M. Saturday, August 13 th at Oakland First Baptist Church with Rev. Carl Meyer of the Oakland First Baptist Church officiating. Special remarks were given by the Lowrance Family and by Mrs. Richardson’s husband, Ben Richardson. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center —West Chapel of Oakland.

Mrs. Richardson was born October 31, 1952 in Dallas, Texas, the daughter of the former Billie D. Moore and the late Jessie Armstrong. She received her education in the Memphis and Shelby County Public School System and was married July 13, 1983 to James Benard “Ben” Richardson, Sr., who survives. Mr. and Mrs. Richardson had been residents of the Oakland Community for the past 27 years and are owners of the Peaceful Settings Construction Company in Oakland, a business they had operated for the past 17 years.

She was a devoted member of the Oakland First Baptist Church and her interests included caring for her yard, sewing, quilting, crafts, traveling and collecting memorabilia. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, mother and family members who cherish the friendship of her large family and friends.

Mrs. Richardson is survived by her husband of 27 years, Ben Richardson, Sr. of Oakland; three daughters, Tracy Jean (Ronnie) Chambers of Southaven, MS, Deidre Dee (Mike) Lowrance of Lexington, TN and Carrie Louise Kirk of Oakland; three sons, Matthew Lynn (Jennifer) Kirk of Arlington, TN, Jeremy Daniel (Jennifer) Kirk of Arlington, TN and James Benard Richardson, Jr. of Oakland; four sisters, Susan Rogers of Arlington, TN, Sally (Robin) Farris of Olive Branch, MS, Nancy (Billy) Warner of Oakland and Tina Marino of Oakland; three brothers, Bill (Jenetta) Armstrong of Arlington, Jessie (Pat) Armstrong, Jr. of Holly Springs, MS and Johnny Armstrong of Whiteville, TN; and 12 grandchildren.

Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Matthew Kirk, Jeremy Kirk, Ben Richardson, Jr., Mike Lowrance, Ronnie Chambers and Jimmy Maxwell.

Honorary casketbearers were Bill Armstrong, Jesse Armstrong, Jr., Robin Farris and Billy Warner.
