Brenda Sue (Hunsucker) Nelson

Brenda Sue Hunsucker Nelson, resident of the Oakland Community and lifelong resident of Fayette County died Monday morning, January 28, 2013 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Collierville. She was 55 years of age and died following a brief illness.
Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Nelson were conducted at 11 A.M. Friday, February 1st at the Morris Chapel Baptist Church near Somerville with Pastor Billy Adair and Pastor John Ed Watkins officiating. Interment followed in the Morris Chapel Cemetery near Somerville. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center — Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mrs. Nelson was born July 23, 1957 in Somerville, the daughter of the former Lottie Virginia Byrd and the late Julian McCoy Hunsucker. She received her education in the Fayette County Public School System and was a lifelong resident of the Somerville and Oakland areas. She was a homemaker for much of her life and in earlier years developed lasting friendships with many friends in the Oakland area while employed by “The Great Little Place” Restaurant.
She was a longtime member of the Morris Chapel Baptist Church and will be remembered as a caregiver throughout her life who enjoyed helping others. She was devoted to her family with a special love for her grandchildren and flowers and gardening were favorite pastimes.
Mrs. Nelson is survived by her fiance, Galen Veldhuizen of Oakland; two daughters, Benita Price (Stephen) of Woodstock, GA, Larae Watkins of Somerville; her mother and stepfather, Virginia Byrd Hunsucker German and James German of Somerville; her sister, Carolyn Sandusky of Hickory Withe; three brothers, Dennis Hunsucker of Somerville, Jeff Hunsucker of Arlington, Mark Hunsucker of Somerville; five grandchildren, Dylan, Hunter, Bradley, Patrick, Kara; and one great granddaughter soon to be.
Mrs. Nelson was preceded in death by her brother, Ricky Hunsucker.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Bradley Price, Dylan Watkins, Patrick McNair, Roy Sandusky, Alex Hunsucker and Barry Byrd.
Honorary casketbearers were Hunter Price, Terrance Watkins, Dennis Hunsucker, Jeff Hunsucker and Mark Hunsucker.
