Brinkley Garland Bishop

August 16, 1918 — June 28, 2015

Brinkley Garland Bishop, age 96, resident of the Somerville Community and husband of the late Hazel Lee Cooper Bishop, departed this life Sunday morning, June 28, 2015 at the Kings Daughters & Sons Nursing Home in Bartlett.

Services of Remembrance for Mr. Bishop were conducted at 2 P.M. Tuesday, June 30th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Dr. Danny Sinquefield, pastor of the Faith Baptist Church in Bartlett, officiating. Interment followed in the Mt. Pisgah Cemetery in Somerville. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mr. Bishop was born August 16, 1918 in Whiteville. He received his education in the Hardeman County Public School System and was married January 29, 1939 to the former Hazel Lee Cooper. Mrs. Bishop preceded him in death on November 30, 2001. He was a lifelong resident of the West Tennessee area and was employed for 15 years as a machinist for Borg Warner in Memphis before his retirement. Mr. Bishop was a member of the Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Somerville and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Mr. Bishop is survived by his daughter, Reva Diane Bishop of Somerville; two sons, Clayton Boyd Bishop (Patricia) of Memphis, Phillip G. Bishop (Margaret) of Memphis; four grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Bishop was preceded in death by his father, Thea Bishop and thirteen brothers and sisters.

Casketbearers were family members and friends and the family requests that memorials be directed to the church, charity or organization of the donor's choice.
