Brit Allyn Goodroe

Brit Allyn Goodroe, age 76, resident of Oakland, Tennessee and husband of Jean Easley Goodroe, departed this life Tuesday evening, January 23, 2018 at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis.

Services of Remembrance for Mr. Goodroe were conducted at 1 P.M. Friday, January 26, 2018 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel with Rev. Don Park officiating. Personal remarks were given by Rev. Richard Hackleman and Mr. Goodroe’s sons, Scot and Tim Goodroe. Interment will follow in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – West Chapel at Oakland.

Mr. Goodroe was born February 8, 1941 in Aliceville, Alabama. He was a graduate of Memphis Technical High School Class of 1959 and received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Memphis State University. He was married June 13, 1963 to the former Jean Easley and he was of the United Methodist Church faith.

Mr. Goodroe was employed at Methodist Healthcare for 12 years and was the Director of Security. He was employed with the City of Memphis for 25 years, retiring as a Captain. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and staying busy around the house.

Mr. Goodroe leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 54 years, Jean Easley Goodroe of Oakland, TN; two sons, Scot Allyn Goodroe (Daren) of Bentonville, AR, Tim Allyn Goodroe (Donna) of Oakland, TN; two sisters, Dannye Williamsen (John) of Memphis, TN, Robin Turner (Bob) of Olive Branch, MS; and five grandchildren, Zachary Allyn Goodroe, Jacob Allyn Goodroe, Kaitlyn Marie Goodroe, Jennie Burks Lamon (David) and Grant William Burks.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy Fauntley Goodroe, Jr. and Arliss Wyleen Baggett Goodroe and his sister, Jacqueline Thetford.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Scot Goodroe, Tim Goodroe, Zachary Goodroe, Jacob Goodroe, Ralph Anderson and Danny Schmidt. Honorary pallbearers included Rev. Richard Hackleman.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of 9 Tower at Methodist University Hospital for all the compassion given to Mr. Goodroe.
