Bro. Robert Wayne “Bob” Campbell, age 86, resident of Collierville, retired Southern Baptist minister and husband of Ann Campbell, departed this life Friday, January 9, 2016 at the Baptist Reynolds Hospice House in Collierville.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Campbell were conducted at 2 P.M. Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at the First Baptist Church in Collierville. The officiating ministers were Dr. Dean Doster and Bro. Jack Gresham. Remarks were given by Leroy Segraves. Congregational hymns were directed by Bro. Bo Fletchall and accompanied by Louise Allen. Soloist was Melanie Kendall, accompanied by Sherri Mead. Interment with Military Honors followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – West Chapel at Oakland.
Bro. Campbell was born December 22, 1929 in Sharon, Tennessee and grew up in Weakley County. He was a 1950 graduate of Sharon High School and received his Master’s Degree at the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisiana. He served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was married August 12, 1951 to the former Sarah Ann Cooper and they were members of Macon First Baptist Church. He was a former resident of the Rossville Community. Bro. Campbell served as a Southern Baptist Minister for many years before retiring. He enjoyed gardening antiques, horses, reading and church activities.
Bro. Campbell is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ann Campbell of Collierville; three daughters, Kathy Campbell Stancil (Dan) of Raleigh, NC, Jane Campbell Crenshaw (Ken) of Collierville, Melanie Campbell Kendall (Doug) of Rossville; five sisters, Mary C. Wright of Jackson, TN, Ruth Smith of Martin, TN, Jean Mathis of Decatur, AL, Norma Jackson of Memphis, Joyce Perkins of Germantown; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Guy Alonzo Campbell and Bernice Glen Wells Campbell; and two brothers, Gerald Campbell and Dale Campbell.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Brian Stancil, Michael Stancil, Eric Kendall, Caleb Kendall, Luke Kendall, Micah Kendall, Dan Stancil, Ken Crenshaw and Doug Kendall. Honorary pallbearers were the Pastors of Fayette County.
