Bruce Davis Powell

January 22, 1954 — March 12, 2012

Bruce Davis Powell, a resident of the Oakland Community and sales representative for Three States Supply Company in Memphis died Monday, March 12, 2012 at his residence. He was 58 years of age and died following an extended illness of several years.

Services of Remembrance for M r. Powell were conducted at 2 PM Saturday, March 17 th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Rev. Loyd Shelton officiating. Interment will be private.

Mr. Powell was born January 22, 1954 in Memphis. He was preceded in death by his parents, June Rea Higgins Powell and Reverend Jack Buckner Powell. He received his education at White Station High School and continued his education at the University of Memphis. He had been a resident of Fayette County for the past ten years and was a Christian.

Mr. Powell had been involved in sales throughout much of his life and was employed with the Carrier Corporation for a number of years before becoming associated with Three States Supply Company. He will be remembered as an avid reader who enjoyed books and collecting old records and in earlier years enjoyed tennis, bowling and beach vacations in Florida. A people person, he enjoyed times with family and friends and was a lifelong resident of Fayette and Shelby counties.

M r. Powell is survived by his daughter, Whitney Powell of Somerville, Massachusetts, two sisters, Mary Lou Ray of Cordova, Susan Powell of Irvine, CA, and one brother, Steve Powell of Higden, AR. He was preceded in death by one brother, Jack Powell.

T he family requests that memorials be directed to the Fayette County Chapter of the American Heart Association, 2170 Business Center Drive 1, Bartlett, TN  38134.
