Bynum Leatherwood, Jr.

Bynum “June” Leatherwood, Jr., age 78, resident of Somerville, Tennessee and husband of Bettye Burch Leatherwood, departed this life Tuesday morning, March 21, 2023 at his home.

June was born March 10, 1945 in the Forty-Five Community near Moscow, Tennessee, the son of the late Bynum Leatherwood, Sr. and Odell Cheek Leatherwood. He received his education at Fayette County High School and was of the Baptist faith. June owned Leatherwood Roofing Company and then was employed at Somerville Light, Gas and Water for 25 years before his retirement. He was of the Baptist faith and a 3rd Degree Mason.

Mr. Leatherwood is survived by his wife of 60 years, Bettye Burch Leatherwood; two daughters, Tammy Howcroft and Charlotte Smith; five sisters, Christine Tacker, Bonnie Byrd, Edna Cryer, Judy Pepper and Debra Seales; two brothers, Bill Leatherwood and Virgil Leatherwood; five grandchildren, Kristen Smith, Ryan Smith, Josh Howcroft, Daniel Howcroft and Paul Howcroft; and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Bynum Leatherwood III.

Graveside Services for Mr. Leatherwood were held at 11 A.M. Friday, March 24, 2023 at Somerville City Cemetery. The officiating ministers were Bro. Wayne Hodge and Bro. Gary Joyner.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Josh Howcroft, Daniel Howcroft, Paul Howcroft and Ryan Smith.
