Carl Elmer Fears

Carl Elmer Fears, age 87, resident of Moscow, longtime resident of the Somerville Community and husband of the late Frances Yager Fears, departed this life Friday morning, June 5, 2015 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis.

Services of Remembrance for Mr. Fears were conducted at 3 P.M. Saturday, June 13th at the Hickory Grove Baptist Church, 8065 Yager Drive, Moscow, TN 38057 with Bro. Bobby L. Williams, pastor of the church, officiating. A Private Interment will be in the Somerville City Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mr. Fears was born May 30, 1928 in Jonesboro, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, A.E. Fears and Catherine Scary Fears. He moved with his parents at an early age to Somerville and was a graduate of Fayette County High School. He was married April 3, 1951 to the former Frances Yager, who preceded him in death on November 2, 2006.

Mr. Fears served in the United States Navy in earlier years and was employed as a truck parts salesman on President’s Island in Memphis for many years before his retirement. He was a resident of Somerville, longtime resident of Memphis and moved to the Moscow Community after retiring. He attended Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Moscow and enjoyed woodworking, tinkering with motors and toy cars.

Mr. Fears is survived by his daughter, Mary Catherine Simmons (Michael C. Simmons) of Moscow and two grandchildren, Kathryn Simmons-Carroll (Kevin Carroll) and Lindsey Simmons.
