Carl Lynn Atwell

August 3, 1950 — February 25, 2014

Carl Lynn Atwell, resident of the Somerville Community, a retired photographer and former resident of the Piperton Community, departed this life Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at his residence. He was 63 years of age and died following an illness of one year.

Services of Remembrance for Mr. Atwell were conducted at 2 P.M. Saturday, March 1st at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Rev. Eddie Little, pastor of the Hickory Withe First Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be private. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center — West Chapel at Oakland.

Mr. Atwell was born August 3, 1950 in Memphis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert Atwell and Connie Sanders Atwell. He received his education in the Shelby County Public School System and was a graduate of Overton High School in Memphis. He was a lifelong resident of Shelby and Fayette Counties and was a former resident of the Piperton Community before moving to Somerville five years ago.

Mr. Atwell will be remembered as a multitalented person who had many interests. He operated a photography shop in earlier years and was also known as a talented guitarist and banjo player. He was blessed with the ability to build many things and was known for his knowledge of Native American heritage. He was an avid hunter with a special interest in deer hunting and had a lifelong love for Harley Davidson motorcycles.

Mr. Atwell is survived by his daughter, Angela Seymour  and husband, Josh of Oakland; the mother of his daughter, Linda Filla of Piperton; his sister, Sherri Owens of Bartlett; his brother, Howard Wilson of Jacksonville, FL; and two grandsons, Nathan Seymour of Oakland, Jacob Seymour of Oakland.

The family requests that memorials be directed to Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center, P.O. Box 250, Somerville, TN 38068.
