Carlton Douglas "Doug" Mason

Carlton Douglas "Doug" Mason, age 83, resident of Somerville and husband of Judy Mason, departed this life Tuesday morning, November 15, 2016 at the National HealthCare Center in Somerville.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Mason were conducted at 10 A.M. Friday, November 18, 2016 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Rev. Daniel C. "Dane" Wood, Jr., pastor of the Shiloh United Methodist Church in Somerville, officiating. Interment with Military Honors followed in the Somerville City Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - West Chapel at Oakland.
Mr. Mason was born October 6, 1933 in Covington, Tennessee. He was a graduate of Fayette County High School Class of 1952 and attended the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. He served his country in the United States Army and was married June 8, 1958 to the former Judy Sanderson.
Mr. Mason was employed with Liles Brothers in Somerville from 1964 until 1995 and at General Truck Sales before his retirement in 2002. He served at the Somerville Country Club, Tennessee High School Rodeo Board, Blue Book Advisory Board and was an alderman for the Town of Somerville. He was a member of the Shiloh United Methodist Church in Somerville and enjoyed outdoor activities that included golfing, horses, hunting, NASCAR and was a racecar enthusiast.
Mr. Mason is survived by his wife of 58 years, Judy Sanderson Mason of Somerville, TN; two daughters, Machelle Simpson (Jackie) of Somerville, TN, Carolann Mason of Somerville, TN; his sister, Virginia M. McBride of Naples, FL; and his grandson, Heath Simpson of Somerville, TN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carlton Jeff Mason and Annie Cathryn Owen Mason and his grandparents, Lofton and Annie Owen.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Todd Sanderson, Floyd Sanderson, Chris Hodges, Ryan Pattat, Tom McBride and Tommy Kelley. Honorary pallbearers were David Fowler, June Walker, David Roberson, Preston Douglas, Alan Sanders, Max Burch and Heath Simpson.
