Carney Bryson

December 18, 1957 — October 4, 2008

James Carney Bryson, age 59, resident of the Oakland Community and a native of Fayette County, died at 7 P.M. Saturday, October 4, 2008 at the St. Francis Hospital in Memphis where he was taken after becoming suddenly ill at his residence. He was 50 years of age and died following a brief illness.

Funeral services for Mr. Bryson were conducted at 11 A.M. Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Rev. Randy Isbell of Savannah, Tennessee, officiating. He was assisted by Dr. Sam Lane, Pastor of the Oakland Presbyterian Church. Interment followed in the Somerville City Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes - Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mr. Bryson was born December 18, 1957 in Somerville the son of Lillian Coxe Bryson and the late Clifton Lightfoot Bryson. He was educated in the Public and Private School Systems of Memphis and was a graduate of the University of Tennessee at Martin. He was married June 29, 1991 to the former Susan Shepherd, an associate of the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, who survives. Mr. Bryson was a Presbyterian and a member of a family long active in the Agricultural and community affairs of Fayette County. He will be remembered as a family oriented person who enjoyed duck hunting and the rural way of life. He was an avid baseball player and fan who attended college by receiving a baseball athletic scholarship to U. T. Martin.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Bryson is survived by his son, Christopher King of Brentwood, TN; his mother, Lil Bryson of Memphis; two sisters, Kay Dease of Dawsonville, GA, Kristi Schaeffer of Memphis; and his brother, Miles Bryson of Somerville.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were John Anthony, Steve Bargiacchi, Sandy Coles, Mark Downing, Chris Faulkner, David Patterson, Michael Robilio and Dennis Ethridge.
