Carole Ann (Smothers) Rush

Carole Ann Smothers Rush, age 58, resident of Piperton and wife of David Lee Rush, departed this life Thursday, September 1, 2016 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Germantown.

Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Rush were conducted at 1 P.M. Thursday, September 8, 2016 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Rev. Bill Hendry of Somerville officiating. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - West Chapel at Oakland.

Mrs. Rush was born May 13, 1958 in Memphis. She was preceded in death by her parents, Brantley Cherry Smothers and Ruby Armintie Scott Smothers. She received her education in the Memphis City School System and was a longtime resident of the Memphis area before moving to Fayette County ten years ago. She was married November 25, 1989 to David Lee Rush and she was employed as an accountant and was employed at Samelson-Leon, Magnolia Paper and for Dave Morris for a number of years. Mrs. Rush was of the Christian faith and enjoyed photography and taking care of others.

Mrs. Rush is survived by her husband of 26 years, David Lee Rush of Piperton; two sisters, Barbara Joyce Wilbanks of Missouri, Susan Darlene Sorrell Jackson of Landrum, South Carolina; her brother, Damon Scott Smothers, Sr. of Memphis; her great niece and nephew whom Mrs. Rush had guardianship over, Allie Smothers and Damon Scott “Trey” Smothers, III; and a niece and four nephews.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Gary Elam, Mark Sorrell, Blake Sorrell, Lewis Kee and Michael Wilbanks. Honorary pallbearers included David Wardlow.
