Carol June (McMorries) Morgan
September 25, 1931 — November 4, 2016
Carol June Morgan died peacefully in her home on November 4th 2016 in Spring, Texas at the age of 85.
Carol was born in McAlester, Oklahoma to Lee Whitfield McMorries and Belva McMorries Anglin on September, 25th, 1931. She attended Holdenville High School and graduated from Sullins School for Girls in Bristol, Virginia, which was a boarding school for girls. Carol then attended Oklahoma State University. She married John Wayne Morgan in Houston, Texas.
Carol was known for her friendliness, quick wit, humor and famous one-liners. She was a delicious southern cook and a loving mother and grandmother. She successfully ran her family’s oil business for 35 years and was also a member of the United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ben Harrison; her husband, John Wayne Morgan; brother, Lee Whitfield McMorries; and her grandson, Maclin James McBride.
Carol is survived by her three daughters, Leann Leach of Edmond, Oklahoma, Mary Elizabeth Morgan-Bruns of Spring, Texas, and Nancy McBride of Highlands Ranch, Colorado; her brother, Tom McMorris of San Antonio, Texas; and her nephew Lee McMorries of Stillwater, Oklahoma. She is also survived by her six grandchildren, Jason Leach, Erin Shaw, Caroline McBride, Susannah McBride, Brandee Bruns, Michael Bruns; and her great grandson, Samuel Shaw.
Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Morgan were conducted at 11 A.M. Saturday, November 12, 2016 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Rev. Kent Bailey officiating. Special music was provided by Bill Butner, harpist, Debbie Kines, soloist and Ginger Hendrick, pianist. Interment followed in the Somerville City Cemetery. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - Main Chapel of Somerville.
Pallbearers were Randy Bruns, Sean McBride, Keith Morris, Lee McMorries, Ron Shinault and Jason Leach.
