Carolyn Jean (Vandiver) Edis

Carolyn Jean Vandiver Edis, age 66, resident of Memphis, Tennessee, departed this life Tuesday morning, March 13, 2018 at the Lutheran Village in Memphis.

A Celebration of Life Service for Ms. Edis were conducted at 1 P.M. Saturday, March 17, 2018 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. Interment was private. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - West Chapel at Oakland.

Ms. Edis was born March 29, 1951 in Corinth, Mississippi, the daughter of the late Otis Glenn Vandiver and Mary Alice Bennett Vandiver. She received her education in Shelby County, Tennessee and at the University of Memphis. She was of the Baptist faith and will be remembered for being joyful, having a wonderful soul and a loving mother, daughter, sister and friend to many. Ms. Edis was employed as a teacher in the Bartlett School System for many years and was very creative and artistic, having taught intellectually gifted children. She was a loving and fun-filled aunt to a host of her nieces and nephews.

Ms. Edis is survived by her daughter, Alice DouBrava (Jason) of Memphis, TN; her son, George Edis of Memphis, TN; her sister, Mary Vandiver Phillips (Leonard) of Springfield, MO; and her brother, Ronald Wayne Vandiver (Diann) of Yorktown, VA.
