CAROLYN SUE STANLEY WHITTAMORE

September 18, 1943 — January 13, 2010

CAROLYN SUE STANLEY WHITTAMORE, a resident of the Oakland Community on Warren Road and Employee of Smith and Nephew in Memphis died Wednesday morning , January 13, 2010 at the St. Francis Hospital in Bartlett where she had been a patient for one week. She was 66 years of age and died following a brief illness.

Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Whittamore were conducted at 11 A.M. Monday, January 18th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Daniel Dalton, Pastor of the Gilt Edge Church of Christ in Gilt Edge, Tennessee, officiating. Interment was private and arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-West Chapel of Oakland.

Mrs. Whittamore was born September 18, 1943 in Memphis the daughter of the late Tommy Stanley and the late Inez Ferrell Stanley.

She received her education in the Shelby County Public School System and was a resident of Shelby County before moving to Fayette County fourteen years ago.

She was employed for over fourteen years by the Smith and Nephew Corporation before retiring five years ago for health reasons.

She was married February 12, 2003 to Roy R. Hardcastle, who survives.

Mrs. Whittamore was a member of the Church of Christ and will be remembered as a person who enjoyed outdoor activities that included softball, nature and traveling.

She was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan and was known for her outgoing personality and love of family and friends.

In addition to her husband, survivors of Mrs. Whittamore include her son, Douglas Whittamore of Memphis; two sisters, Charlotte Hester of Bartlett and Julie Murphy of Lakeland and two brothers, Jimmy Hampton of Hickory Withe and Gary Wayne Hampton of Bartlett.
