Carolyn Susanne “Susie” Box, resident of the Hickory Withe Community and a resident of Fayette County for much of her life, departed this life Monday morning, April 7, 2014 at the St. Francis Hospital in Bartlett where she had been a patient for one day. She was 62 years of age and died unexpectedly of natural causes.
Services of Remembrance for Ms. Box were conducted at 2 P.M. Friday, April 25th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Bro. John Ed Watkins of Somerville officiating. Special music was provided by Donna and John Ed Watkins. Interment will be private. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center — Main Chapel of Somerville.
Ms. Box was born January 6, 1952 in Fayette County, the daughter of the late Joe Box and former Bula Lorene Austin. She received her education in the Fayette County Public School System and was a homemaker for much of her life. Ms. Box was of the Baptist faith and had been a resident of the Hickory Withe Community for the past five years. Her interests included reading, crocheting and being with her family.
Ms. Box is survived by her daughter, Stephanie Bennett (Grady) of Hickory Withe; her son, Allen Joseph Carter of Ann Arbor, MI; her sister, Melissa Edwards of Somerville; her brother, Kenneth Box of Michigan; and two grandchildren, Summer Carter and Abbigail Carter.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Box and her grandson, Joshua Thomas.
Casketbearers were family members and friends and the family requests that memorials be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Department 142, Memphis, TN 38148.
