Carri Michele Owen Hilton, resident of Grand Junction, retired owner and operator of BirdShows.com and The Pet Barn in Grand Junction, United States Veteran and wife of William “Chip” Hilton departed this life Thursday afternoon, April 18, 2013 at the Methodist University Hospital in Memphis where she had been a patient for 15 days. She was 48 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Services Celebrating the Life of Mrs. Hilton will be conducted at 2 P.M. Saturday, May 4th at the Hilton residence with Bro. Granville Watson of the Grand Junction First Baptist Church officiating. Interment will be private and arrangements will be provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center — Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mrs. Hilton was born June 4, 1964 in St. Louis, Missouri. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roger Owen and Diane Waisner Owen. She received her education in the Chicago, Illinois Public School System and was married August 9, 1989 to William Thomas “Chip” Hilton, a native of Memphis, who survives. Mrs. Hilton served in the United States Air Force for over nine years. She and her husband were U.S. Veterans and after serving their country, moved to the Grand Junction community in 1994.
They were the owners and operators of The Pet Barn in Grand Junction and also BirdShows.com before retiring in 2005 for health reasons. Since retiring, Mrs. Hilton received loving care from her husband who served as a caregiver during her lengthy illness. Mrs. Hilton was of the Baptist faith and she and her husband received much pleasure in the breeding of exotic birds and operating their business that served businesses and individuals throughout the Mid-South and other areas. She will be remembered as a devoted wife and mother and was a friend to many.
In addition to her husband of 23 years, Mrs. Hilton is survived by two daughters, Brittni Nicole Hilton of New Orleans, LA, Casey Mae Hilton of Grand Junction; her brother, Roger Michael Owen of Malaysia; and her mother-in-law, Beverly Hilton of Bartlett.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the American Cancer Society – Hope Lodge, 718 Union Avenue, Memphis, TN 38103.
