Catherine Mary-Jane "Cindy" Cannon Curtis, age 66, resident of Whiteville, Tennessee and wife of Joe Curtis, departed this life Friday afternoon, January 19, 2024 at her home.
Cindy was born October 5, 1957 in Somerville, Tennessee, the daughter of the late John Dave Cannon and Bonnie Jean “Polly” Martin Cannon. She graduated from Fayette County High School and continued her education to earn an associate degree in nursing at Whiteville Vo-Tech. She was employed through the State of Tennessee as an LPN for 30 years before her retirement.
Cindy was married June 27, 1987 to Joe Curtis and was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church in the District 15 Community of Fayette County. She was a loving mother and nana and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She was a Master Gardener who loved flowers, cooking and playing board games. She was very creative and enjoyed drawing, sketching and gardening.
Cindy is survived by her husband of 36 years, Joe Curtis; three daughters, Monica Glover (Chris), Jessica Holmes (Richie) and Dottie Curtis (Fate); two sisters, Elizabeth Brewer (Jeffery) and Regina Bell; four brothers, Phillip Cannon, Paul Cannon, Curtis Cannon (Leslie) and Dennis Cannon; and ten grandchildren, Eliot, Samuel, Jonathan, Elliott, Madison, Aubrey, Jayden, Makenzie, Kira and Olivia.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Annie Laurie Moore and two brothers, Gene David “Henry” Cannon and James Edward Cannon.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Curtis were held at 2 P.M. Friday, January 26, 2024 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Bro. Mickey Cossar, pastor of Mt. Olive Baptist Church, officiating. Interment followed in Mt. Olive Cemetery in the District 15 Community of Fayette County.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Lee Johnson, Michael Sprayberry, Jimmy Cannon, Kong Lor, Richie Holmes and Chris Glover.
