Charles Edward "Red" Burch, Jr.

Charles Edward “Red” Burch, Jr., resident of the Oakland Community, master mechanic and husband of Mary Nettie Burch died Sunday morning, October 30, 2011 at  his residence. He was 83 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Burch will be conducted at 2 P.M. Thursday, November 3rd at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Rev. David Reeves of the Midway Baptist Church in Whiteville officiating. Personal remarks will be given by Carl Doyle. Special music will be provided by Ellen DeFoor and Melvin German. Interment will follow in the Oakland Cemetery. Arrangements are provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center — West Chapel of Oakland.
Mr. Burch was born August 15, 1928 in the Williston Community. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Edward Burch, Sr. and Mary Louise Smith Burch. He was educated in the Williston and Somerville Public School Systems.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Burch is survived by his daughter, Melissa Burch Garner (James Hunsucker) of Southaven, MS; five sons, Barry Gene Burch (Lela Dianne) of Bartlett, Eddie DeFoor of Somerville, Carlton “Bubba” DeFoor of Somerville, David DeFoor of Oakland, Don DeFoor of Oakland; two sisters, Helen Burch Kelley (John) of LaGrange, Jo Burch Earnest of Memphis; his brother, Max Burch (Shelby) of Savannah, TN; sixteen grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren. Mr. Burch was preceded in death by his daughter, Linda Dale Burch and his son, Donnie H. Burch.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Brad Burch, Gene Burch, Shane Hardin, Shane Burch, Carlton DeFoor, David DeFoor, Don DeFoor and Derek DeFoor.
Honorary casketbearers were Morton Caraway, Ray Motley, Dennis Cheairs, Melvin German, Barrett Rich and Nathan Webb.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or the Oakland Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 68, Oakland, TN 38060.
