Charles Foster

Charles Levurn Foster, resident of the Byhalia Community in DeSoto County Mississippi and former resident of the Oakland Community died Sunday morning October 3, 2010 at his residence. He was 80 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Funeral Services for Mr. Foster were conducted at 10 A.M. Friday, October 8
th
at Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Dr. P. J. Scott of the First Baptist Church of Olive Branch, officiating. He was assisted by Rev. Jimmy Wilbanks of the Cornerstone Baptist Church at Potts Camp. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes—West Chapel of Oakland.
Mr. Foster was born in Pocahontas, Tennessee on June 20, 1930 the son of the late Robert Lee Foster and the late Minnie Belle Lawrence Foster. He was educated in the McNairy County Public School System and as a young person served in the U. S. Air Force. Mr. Foster was employed as a Supervisor for the Carrier Corporation in Collierville for 25 years before his retirement. He was a former resident of the Oakland Community before moving to the Byhalia Community seven years ago. Mr. Foster’s interests included fishing, gardening, woodworking and gospel music.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Ann Henderson Foster, his daughters, Debbie Voyles of Somerville, TN, Eva Cook of Byhalia, MS, Kathy Riley of Coldwater, MS, Jeanette Busby of Cockrum, MS, his sons: Robert Foster of Livermore, CO, Michael Foster of Little Rock, CA, Jonny Foster of Olive Branch, MS, his step-sons: Russell Johnson of Batesville, MS, Mark Johnson of Somerville, TN, his brother, D. C. Foster of Seattle, WA, twenty-one grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Mr. Foster was preceded in death by his son, Larry Foster, sisters, Virginia McAlphin, Elmer Wilbanks and his brother, Taft Foster.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Brandon Busby, Geoff Busby, Koby Busby, Austin Johnson, Josh Johnson and Jason Riley.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the American Cancer Society.
