Charles Ivy "Charlie" McCraw, age 59, resident of Germantown, former resident of the Braden Community, banker for Metropolitan Bank and husband of Beverly Wallace McCraw departed this life suddenly Thursday morning, October 17, 2013 at the Methodist LeBonheur Hospital in Germantown.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. McCraw were conducted at 3 P.M. Sunday, October 20th at the Hope Church in Cordova with Dr. Eli Morris of the church and Rev. Dr. Logan Jones of Raleigh, North Carolina officiating. Interment followed in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery at Hickory Withe. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center - Main Chapel of Somerville.
A resident of Germantown for several years, Mr. McCraw was originally from Braden, Tennessee in Fayette County and was the son of the late Harris L. "Sonny" McCraw and Nancy Ivy McCraw who currently resides in Germantown. His career in banking included The Bank of Mason, First Tennessee, where he served as Regional President, and most recently Metropolitan Bank as Senior Managing Director.
Active in the community, Mr. McCraw served many organizations including Germantown Performing Arts Center, Germantown Chamber of Commerce, Germantown Kiwanis, and Germantown Economic Development Commission. He graduated from the University of Tennessee at Martin with a B.S. in Business Administration, Barrett School of Banking, and the Graduate School of Banking of the South at Louisiana State University.
In addition to his wife of 35 years, Mr. McCraw is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Ivy McCraw of Denver, CO; his son, John Harris McCraw of Nashville; his mother, Mrs. Harris L. (Nancy) McCraw, Jr. of Germantown; his sister, Diane McCraw Hampton of Memphis; and two brothers, Harris Lamar McCraw, III of Dallas, TX and J. Weber McCraw of Covington, TN.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the Hope Church, 8500 Walnut Grove Road, Cordova, TN 38018 where he was an Elder and charter member or the Germantown Performing Arts Center, 1801 Exeter Road, Germantown, TN 38120 where he was a past president of the board.
