Charles William “Bill” Wilson, Sr., age 78, resident of the Fisherville Community and husband of Donna Skinner Wilson, departed this life Thursday afternoon, June 9, 2016 at his residence.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Wilson were conducted at 3 P.M. Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Les Helton, Senior Families Pastor at Collierville First Baptist Church, officiating. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – West Chapel at Oakland.
Mr. Wilson was born March 9, 1938 in Memphis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil Lavel Wilson and Mabel Emily Bernhardt Wilson. He was a graduate of Collierville High School and married March 23, 1967 to the former Donna Skinner. Mr. Wilson served his country in the Army National Guard and was employed with the Memphis Fire Department for 30 years before his retirement. He was a member of the St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Collierville and enjoyed gardening, bowling, St. Louis Cardinals baseball, University of Memphis Tigers basketball, University of Tennessee football and Memphis Grizzlies basketball.
Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife of 49 years, Donna Skinner Wilson of Fisherville; three sons, Charles W. “Chuck” Wilson, Jr. and his wife, Jackie, of Collierville, Thomas Lewis Wilson and his wife, Angie, of Southaven, Mississippi, Christopher E. Wilson of Collierville; his sister, Cathy Bailey and her husband, Donald, of Collierville; his brother, James Campbell Wilson of Tallahassee, Florida; and four grandchildren, Katie Roberts, Christopher Bankston, John Phillips and Anthony Bankston.
Pallbearers were family members and friends and the family requests that memorials be directed to the church, charity or organization of the donor’s choice.
