Charles Roy "Charlie" Gaines, 76, passed away peacefully at his home in Lucas, Texas on Febuary 22, 2016 after a two year battle with cancer. Charles was born March 7, 1939 and raised in Henning, Tennessee.
He was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. He retired from Air Liquid in 2002 after 35 years of employment. For 30 years, Charlie was a dedicated servant to the residents of Lucas and Collin County, Texas. He served on Lucas City Council for 10 years, Collin County Parks Board and was a founding member and driving force for Trinity Trails and Preservation Association (TTPA) also served in the Air Force and was a Mason. He loved riding his beloved horse, Spirit, on the many trails created by TTPA.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, CW Gaines and Beatrice Steelman Gaines. He is survived by his wife, Mary Gaines; his son, Kevin Gaines (Amy Blailock Gaines); his daughter, Christie Cannon (Kevin Cannon); five grandchildren, Seth Gaines, Charlie Gaines, Peyton Gaines, Daniel Low and Kaitlyn Cannon. He is also survived by two brothers, Bill Gaines (Joann Gaines), Maurice Gaines (Sue Gaines); his sister, Ella Jo Gaines and many nieces, nephews friends and family.
Graveside Services were held at 2 P.M. Saturday, February 27, 2016 at the Arlington Cemetery located on Chester Street in Arlington. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - Main Chapel of Somerville.
