Charles "Charlie" Garvin Oates

Charles (Charlie) Garvin Oates, 65, completed his life’s journey on Friday, February 12, 2021 at his home in Bartlett, Tennessee.

Charles was a cherished husband, father, brother, uncle and friend to many. He loved spending time with his family and many cherished memories were made. Charles loved all and was loved by all. He never met a stranger, loved playing with his nieces and nephews and was always good for a laugh. He will be greatly missed by many.

Charles was preceded in death by the love of his life, Susan Binkley Oates; father, Judson Oates; mother, Lexie Price Oates Thomas; and Charles’ younger brother, Steven “Steve” Franklin Thomas who followed in death on March 6, 2021.

Charles is survived by his stepson, Brad Norris and his wife Dawn; granddaughter, Sophia Lynn Norris of Mississippi; sister, Sara Oates Kiser and her husband, Johnny; nieces, Kimberly Miller of Georgia and Jill Watts of North Carolina, Nancy Thomas and her husband Mike, Kalynn Bearden and Kourtney Hudson of Tennessee and Lindsey Thomas; nephew, Matt Thomas; sisters-in-law, Dee Burgess and her husband Howard; nieces, Lauren, Grace and Sarah and Deborah Berger and her husband Ron, nieces, Michele and Melanie Berger and Linda Stuart; nephew, Justin Leach; mother-in-law, Doris Binkley; and Charley Kardoush and family.

A Celebration of Life Service for Charlie will be held at 12 noon Saturday, April 3, 2021 at the Evergreen Cemetery in Williston, Tennessee.
