Charles Louis "Charlie" Petty, resident of the Mason Community and heavy equipment operator and farmer departed this life Sunday, August 25, 2013 at his residence. He was 53 years of age and died unexpectedly of natural causes.
Services for Mr. Petty were conducted at 4 P.M. Wednesday, August 28th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Dr. Johnny James of Atoka, Tennessee officiating. A Private Interment will be in the Belmont Cemetery near Mason. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - West Chapel at Oakland.
Mr. Petty was born September 26, 1959 in Covington, the son of Royce Petty and Robbie Johnson Meador. He received his education in the Fayette County Private School System in earlier years and was a graduate of Covington High School. He was employed as a heavy equipment operator for much of his life before his retirement in 2009.
Mr. Petty was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and working on the Petty Family race horses. He was involved in the agriculture industry for much of his life and employed at Petty Farms in Mason.
Mr. Petty is survived by his daughter, Brittany Petty of Arlington, TN; two sons, Dylan Petty of Mason, TN, C. Jay Petty of Covington, TN; his mother and stepfather, Robbie Johnson Meador and Charlie Meador of Tupelo, MS; his father and stepmother, Royce and Jo Lynn Petty of Mason, TN; his sister, Audrey Petty Milbourne of Mt. Juliet, TN; and two brothers, Johnathan Glass of Covington, TN and Sam Petty of Mason, TN.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the Belmont Cemetery Association, c/o Barbara Canaday, 7285 U.S. Highway 64, Oakland, TN 38060.
