CHARLES Dewayne “WAYNE” LOOKER, a resident of Memphis, retired Painting Contractor with survivors including his daughter, Christie Farris of Oakland died Tuesday afternoon, January 18, 2011 at his residence. He was 43 years of age and died following a three-year illness.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Looker were conducted at 2 P.M. Thursday, January 20
th
at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Rev. John Maley, pastor of Hartland Heights Baptist Church, officiating. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes—West Chapel of Oakland.
Mr. Looker was born in Shelby County on December 3, 1967, the son of Julia Flint Looker and the late Richard Looker. He was a graduate of the Memphis City School System and was a devoted member of Hartland Heights Baptist Church where he enjoyed singing.
Mr. Looker was married June 27, 1991 to the former Linda Topper, who survives His interests included music, playing the guitar, fishing, and special times with his wife and daughters. Mr. Looker was a devoted son, husband, father and grandfather who served as an inspiration to his family and friends during his lengthy illness.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Looker is survived by his daughters: Christie Farris (Jimmy) of Oakland, Jessica King (Cameron) of Collierville, Amy Templeton of Memphis; he also leaves his mother: Julie Flint Looker of Memphis; two sisters: Diane Marcum of Memphis, Louise Morris of Memphis; three brothers: Johnny Looker of Memphis, William Looker of Memphis, Michael Looker of Lawrenceburg, TN and two grandsons Thomas and Dalton Farris, both of Oakland.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Jimmy Poindexter, Eric Burnett, Marty Turner, Jimmy Farris, Kevin King and Wayne Smith.
