Charley Edward Berry, age 78, resident of the Hickory Withe Community and husband of Glenda Rickman Berry, departed this life Sunday morning, February 4, 2018 at his residence.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Berry were conducted at 1 P.M. Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Carl Doyle officiating. Personal remarks were given by Mr. Berry’s grandson, Nicholas Thornton. Special music was provided by Danielle Boone and Genna Berry, Mr. Berry's granddaughters. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – West Chapel at Oakland.
Mr. Berry was born October 17, 1939 in Mountain View, Arkansas. He received his education in Clay County, Arkansas and was married September 24, 1960 to the former Glenda Rickman. He was of the Baptist faith and was active with the First Volunteer Fire Department at Hickory Withe and doing fundraisers. Mr. Berry was an outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, working with his wife in the garden, yardwork, tending to his roses, collecting guns, watching squirrels and hummingbirds and being with his dogs.
Mr. Berry is survived by his wife of 57 years, Glenda Rickman Berry of Hickory Withe, TN; his daughter, Angela Thornton (David) of Somerville, TN; three sons, Troy Berry (Cavin) of Horn Lake, MS, Charles “Bud” Berry (Mona) of Eads, TN, Bruce Carroll Berry of Oakland, TN; two sisters, Jane Lacey of Lepanto, AR, Betty Russell of Mountain Home, AR; his brother, George Berry of Indianapolis, IN; three grandchildren, Danielle Boone (Corey) of Horn Lake, MS, Genna Berry of Water Valley, MS, Nicholas Thornton of Somerville, TN; and two special friends, Bo and Peyton Burross.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wiley L. Berry and Olga Berkley Berry; his sister, Fredia McClough; and four brothers, Marvin Berry, Norman Berry, Wendell Berry and Bennie Berry.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Bud Berry, David Thornton, Nicholas Thornton, Steven Tate, Rodney Ogden and Jeff Holland.
