Charles M. "Charlie" Johnson, age 55, resident of the Macon Community, departed this life Sunday, December 28, 2014 at his residence.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Johnson were conducted at 11 A.M. Wednesday, December 31st at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Kevin Treadway of Somerville officiating. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - West Chapel at Oakland.
Mr. Johnson was born January 23, 1959 in Memphis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil M. Johnson and Willie Mae Busby Johnson. He received his education in the Fayette County Public School System and was a longtime resident of the Fayette County area. He was a member of the Morris Chapel Baptist Church in Somerville and served in the lawn care business for many years. Mr. Johnson enjoyed playing gospel and country music, fishing and playing the guitar and drums.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his daughter, Bonnie Pena of Ripley, TN; five sisters, Patricia Jackson of Macon, TN, Patsy Johnson of Ripley, TN, Gara Knight of Henning, TN, Carolyn Wray of Ripley, TN, Joy Bell Johnson of Savannah, TN; his brother, James Johnson of Halls, TN; and two grandsons, Rocky Pena and Michael Pena.
Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Anthony Cates, Kevin Cates, Ryan Watkins, Phillip Miles, Scottie King and Carey Marsh.
Honorary casketbearers were Kenneth Jackson and Johnny King.
