Cheri Dianne (Alberson) Holland

Cheri Dianne Alberson Holland, resident of the Laconia Community, retired movie rental store manager and wife of Willie I. Holland departed this life Sunday morning, October 6, 2013 at her residence. She was 65 years of age and died following an extended illness.

Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Holland were conducted at 2 P.M. Tuesday, October 8th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with David Looney, minister of the Bolivar Church of Christ officiating. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center — West Chapel at Oakland.

Mrs. Holland was born May 9, 1948 in Memphis. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Weldon Alberson and Velma Skaggs Alberson. She received her education in the Shelby County Public School System and was a graduate of Overton High School in Memphis. She was married May 20, 1967 to Willie I. Holland, an employee for Mercury Printing Company in Memphis before his retirement, who survives.

Mrs. Holland had been a resident of Fayette County for over 35 years and resided in the Hickory Withe Community before moving to the Laconia Community 14 years ago. She was a Christian and will be remembered as a family-oriented person. Mrs. Holland served as manager of the Movie Gallery in Somerville and Oakland for a number of years before her retirement. She was an avid reader and enjoyed anything pertaining to the movie world. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and received much pleasure from her pet canine, “Maggie”. For many years she collected bears of all types and sizes and enjoyed sharing her collection with others.

In addition to her husband of 46 years, Mrs. Holland is survived by two sons, Billy Irvin Holland (Janice) of Hickory Withe, Jonathan Dee Holland (Christi) of Oakland; her mother-in-law, Vada Griffin Holland of Bolivar; three sisters, Jean Sanderlin of Byhalia, MS, Flo Odiorne of Las Vegas, NV, Ann Covington of Phoenix, AZ; her brother, Jimmy Alberson of Byhalia, MS; and two grandsons, Nicholas Holland and Noah Holland.

Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Von Goudy, Hunter Hart, Dillon Goudy, Andy Hart, Joey Andello and Bobby Holland.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the church, charity or organization of the donor's choice.
