Cherry (Raymond) Slaughter

September 18, 1930 — August 4, 2015

Cherry Raymond Slaughter, age 84, resident of Marion, Arkansas, departed this life Monday evening, August 4, 2015 at the Willowbend at Marion.

Services of Remembrance for Mrs. Slaughter were conducted at 11 A.M. Saturday, August 8, 2015 at the First Baptist Church of Memphis. Interment followed in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery at Bartlett. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center - Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mrs. Slaughter was born September 18, 1930 in Whitehall, Arkansas. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Raymond and Eleanor Hay Raymond. She received her Bachelor's Degree from the Memphis State University and was the wife of 50 years to Frank Slaughter, who survives. Mrs. Slaughter was a member of the First Baptist Church of Memphis and enjoyed walking and singing. She was a member of the Gavel Club, the Sweet Adelines and the Civitan Club.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Slaughter is survived by her son, John Sholly (Renee) of Cordova; her sister, Joyce Varner (Merrill) of Lakeland; her brother, Tommy Hay (Sharon) of McCrory, AR; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were family members and friends and the family requests that memorials be directed to the First Baptist Church of Memphis, 200 East Parkway North, Memphis, TN 38112 or the Alzheimer's Association, 713 S. Mendenhall Road, Memphis, TN 38117.
