Chester McGee
1931—2011
Chester McGee, longtime resident of the Moscow Community, United State Veteran and retired employee of the Humko Company in Memphis died Friday evening, January 21, 2011 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Collierville where he had been a patient for two weeks. He was 79 years of age and died following a brief illness.
Funeral services for Mr. McGee were conducted at 2 P.M. Monday, January 24

at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Bro. Lynn Eagan, retired pastor of the
Morris Memorial Baptist Church
, officiating. Interment with Military recognition followed in the Friendship Cemetery near Moscow. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes—Main Chapel of Somerville.
Mr. McGee was born October 25, 1931 in Moscow. He was preceded in death by his parents Virginia Stafford McGee and Frank Daniel McGee, early residents of the Moscow area. He was educated in the Fayette County Public School System and was a graduate of the Fayette County High School. Mr. McGee served in the United States Army as a young person and was a longtime employee of the Humko Company in Memphis and its successors before his retirement fourteen years ago.
Mr. McGee was a Baptist and was a lifelong resident of the Moscow Community. He was a family oriented person who served as a caregiver to his parents before their death. Mr. McGee continued to live in the McGee family home near Moscow throughout his lifetime. He enjoyed quail hunting and nature as long as health permitted.
Mr. McGee is survived by his sister: Mable Dean Shoaf (John) of Covington, TN; his nephews: David Shoaf and Stanley Shoaf, both of Germantown.
