Chester Douglas "Doug" Reid

Chester Douglas “Doug” Reid, age 74, resident of Port St. Lucie, Florida and husband of Linda Moore Reid, departed this life Wednesday morning, December 7, 2016 at the Tradition Medical Center in Port St. Lucie.

Services of Remembrance for Mr. Reid were conducted at 2 P.M. Tuesday, December 13, 2016 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Dr. Dennis Davis officiating. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – West Chapel at Oakland.

Mr. Reid was born December 5, 1942 in Collierville, Tennessee. He was a graduate of Humes High School in Memphis and was married June 25, 1966 to the former Linda Moore. He was employed with the Tennessee Department of Transportation for 30 years, including being involved in the Highway Beautification Project, before his retirement. Mr. Reid was of the Baptist faith and a former resident of Memphis and Jackson, Tennessee before moving to Port St. Lucie, Florida to be close to his family. He enjoyed watching and coaching baseball and model trains.

Mr. Reid is survived by his wife, Linda Moore Reid of Port St. Lucie, FL; three sons, John Mark Reid (Donna) of Port St. Lucie, FL, Timothy Alan Reid (Beatrice) of Yukon, OK, Andrew Douglas Reid (Brandy) of Oakland, TN; two sisters, Janie Spadie (Ron) of Louisville, KY, Myra Reid of Lakeland, TN; two brothers, Thomas L. Reid (Lynn) of Pangborn, AR, Manson R. Reid (Gail) of Bartlett, TN; three grandchildren, Stephanie Pride (Joshua), Joshua Mark Reid, John Caleb Reid; and two great-grandchildren, Jupiter Kayden Pride and Arabella Sophia Pride.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Julius B. Reid and Virginia Lipford Reid; his sister, Nova M. Deering; and his brother, J.C. Reid.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Caleb Reid, Josh Reid, Todd Reid, Abie Reid, Glenn Moore and Kevin Moore.
