Chester Webb, age 94, resident of Piperton and husband of Artie Jean Vick Webb, departed this life Wednesday evening, September 14, 2016 at the Baptist Memorial Hospital in Collierville.
Mr. Webb was born July 14, 1922 in Fullman, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, John R. Webb and Sara Ida Townsend Webb. He attended school in Germantown and was a graduate of Collierville High School. He served his country in the United States Army and was an 82nd Airborne Division Paratrooper during the World War II Period. Mr. Webb was married November 22, 1946 to the former Artie Jean Vick.
Mr. Webb was employed as the plant manager of Collierville Elementary School. He was a member of the V.F.W. 5066 Local and helped form the Piperton Fire Department. He was a member of the Collierville First Baptist Church and enjoyed dancing, hunting, fishing, traveling and special times with his family. Mr. Webb loved his country and his family states he always had a smile.
Mr. Webb is survived by his wife of almost 69 years, Artie Jean Webb of Piperton; his son, Hugh Alan Webb (Linda) of Piperton; his sister, Nita Morris of Memphis;two daughter-in-laws Becky Webb of Willsiton, Tn and Kathy Webb of Pensacola, FL.; three grandchildren, Julia Webb of Williston, Heather Roberts (Scott) of Williston, Geri Floyd (Chris) of Collierville; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Richard Webb, Clifton “Kippy” Webb; four sisters and four brothers.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the church, charity or organization of the donor’s choice.
