Christian S. “Chris” Allgyer, resident of the Whiteville Community and retired Long Distance Truck Operator died Thursday morning, November 11, 2010 at his residence on U.S. Highway 64. He was 73 years of age and died of natural causes.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Allgyer were conducted at 2 P.M. Saturday, November 13 th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes—West Chapel of Oakland.
A native of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Mr. Allgyer was born April 17, 1937. He was preceded in death by his parents, David Allgyer and Suzie Stoltzsus Allgyer. Mr. Allgyer received in education in Pennsylvania Amish Schools and was a former resident of Marion, Arkansas before moving to the Whiteville Community fifteen years ago.
He was involved in the trucking industry for much of his life and was employed as a Long Distance Truck Operator for the Yellow Freight Lines in Memphis for over 30 years before his retirement four years ago. Mr. Allgyer was of the Christian Faith and he will be remembered for his interest in stock marketing. He was an avid western movie and John Wayne fan who enjoyed the rural way of life, and often referring to his home and property as “Allgyers Ranch”. His “animal farm stock” consisted of his goats and emus that he received much pleasure in caring for.
Mr. Allgyer is survived by his three daughters, Carolyn Moore (Kevin) of Cordova, Christine Hutchinson (Les) of Herb Parsons Lake in Fayette County, Sandra Mays (Buzz) of Olive Branch, Mississippi,  his two sons, Gregory Allgyer (Julie) of Whiteville and Timothy Allgyer (Melanie) of Collierville, twelve grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by several brothers and sisters who reside in Pennsylvania.
Family members and friends served as casketbearers and it is requested that memorials be directed to the church, charity or organization of the donor’s choice.
