Christine “Chris” Farr Castellaw, Williston Community resident, retired Beautician and wife of the late Bobby White Castellaw died Saturday afternoon, June 25, 2011 at her residence. She was 76 years of age and died following an extended illness.

Celebration of Life Services for Mrs. Castellaw were conducted at 11 A.M. Tuesday, June 28 th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Rev. Loyd Shelton of Rossville, officiating. Interment followed in the Evergreen Cemetery at Williston. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes—Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mrs. Castellaw was born November 13, 1934 in Cullman, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Wesley Farr and Bobbie Eunice Dale Farr. She was educated in the Public School Systems of Mississippi and Alabama and was a graduate of the Memphis Cosmetology School. Mrs. Castellaw was married January 1, 1955 Bobby White Castellaw who preceded her in death on September 25, 1998.

Mrs. Castellaw was a beautician in Shelby County for a number of years and owned and operated the Chris Beauty Shop before her retirement. She was a member of the Fisherville Baptist Church and had been a resident of the Williston Community for the past twenty years. She will be remembered as a devoted mother who enjoyed special times with her family and grandchildren.

Mrs. Castellaw is survived by three sons, John W. Castellaw (Gina) of Memphis, Mark A. Castellaw of Williston and Matthew A. Castellaw of Pocohontas, TN; five sisters, Claudia Mae Roberton of Sardis, MS, Cathryn Oaks of Edgewater, FL, Bettie Kell-Etheridge of Hendersonville,TN, Bobbie Monday of Hendersonville, TN and Laura Oaks of St. Marcos, TX; a brother, Edward Oaks of Kileen,TX; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Those honored to serve as casketbearers were Shayne Castellaw, Matthew Castellaw, James Bradley Leist, Derek Thompson, Chris Owens and Blake Webster.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to the Evergreen Cemetery Association.
