CINDY LEE GLOVER BURRISS

February 8, 1952 — June 16, 2009

CINDY LEE GLOVER BURRISS, wife of Jim Burriss, resident of the Moscow Community, native of Mobile, Alabama, formerly of Collierville and Germantown died at 11:49 A.M. Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at the Methodist University Hospital in Memphis  where she had been a patient for eight weeks. She was 57 years of age and died following an extended illness.

Remembrance Services for Mrs. Burriss were conducted at 11 A.M. Saturday, June 20th at the Moscow United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Griffith, Pastor of the church, officiating. Interment was private and arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes-Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mrs. Burriss was born February 8, 1952 in Mobile Alabama. She was preceded in death by her parents, JD Glover and Elizabeth Louise Culver Glover. She was educated in the Mobile, Alabama Public School System and was a graduate of the Murphy High School and of the Southwest State Technical College in Mobile.

She was involved in healthcare in earlier years serving as a Nurse and later was a business owner in Collierville operating a crafts and home decor shop.

She was married July 3, 1993 to James Allen (Jim) Burriss, an Engineer, who survives.

Mrs. Burriss was a former resident of Shelby County before moving with her family to the Moscow Community in 1999.
She was a devoted member of the Moscow United Methodist Church and participated in numerous church activities with a special concern and love for the Food Pantry Program sponsored by her church.

Mrs. Burriss will be remembered as a devoted homemaker who always found time for her family, church, her community and friends.

She enjoyed pets and nature and received much enjoyment in participating in NASCAR activities with her husband.

She served as an inspiration to many with her optimistic Christian attitude and spirit during her lengthy illness.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Burriss is survived by her daughter, Courtney Leigh Weber of Southaven; two grandchildren, Ashley and Jay Weber of Southaven; two sisters, Connie Graves (Lee) of Moscow and Farelia Fleming (Robert) of Apex, NC and two nieces, Kellie Pierce of Portland, OR and Natalie O'Brien of Apex, NC.
