Claude L. Lundy

March 16, 1945 — July 20, 2013

Claude L. “Jimmy” Lundy, resident of the Oakland Community, retired employee for Roadway Express and husband of Sandy Drewry passed into eternity Saturday afternoon, July 20, 2013 at his residence. He was 68 years of age.

A Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Lundy was conducted at 12:30 P.M. Thursday, July 25th at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Drew Murphy and Bro. Jon Gambrell of the Fayette Baptist Church in Somerville officiating. Interment was private and arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center — West Chapel at Oakland.

Mr. Lundy was born March 16, 1945 in Mobile, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents, Hardy Laverne Lundy and Eva Smith Lundy. As a young person, he attended school in Mobile, Alabama and moved with his family to Arkansas where he was a graduate of the Pine Bluff High School, class of 1963.

Mr. Lundy and his family moved to Memphis in 1966 and he was a resident of the Memphis area before moving to the Oakland Community 22 years ago. He was a longtime employee of Roadway Express and was employed by the company for 30 years before his retirement in 2002. Mr. Lundy was an active member of the Fayette Baptist Church in Somerville and will be remembered for his love of family, friends and community. He enjoyed animals throughout his life and received much pleasure from helping others.

Mr. Lundy is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sandy Lundy; his daughter, Leslie Lundy Erwin (Jay) of Eads; his sister, Margaret Lundy Lynn (Larry) of Hot Springs, AR; and three brothers, Odis Lundy (Sharon) of Luray, VA, Bob Lundy (Cindy) of Clarksville, AR, Mack Lundy (Sandy) of Little Rock, AR. He was preceded in death by his sister, Ann Lundy Coats.

The family requests that lasting memorials be directed to the Fayette Baptist Church, c/o Mid-South Baptist Association, 6896 U.S. Highway 70, Bartlett, TN 38133.
