Claudie Lee “Junior” Markle, age 84, resident of the Williston Community and husband of the late Lydia McQueen Markle, departed this life Monday morning, October 10, 2016 at his residence.
Services of Remembrance for Mr. Markle were conducted at 1 P.M. Thursday, October 13, 2016 at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Bro. Rickey Burns, pastor of the Williston Baptist Church, officiating. Interment with Military Honors followed in the Evergreen Cemetery at Williston. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – Main Chapel in Somerville.
Mr. Markle was born July 2, 1932 in Eads, Tennessee. He received his education in the Fayette County Public School System and served his country in the United States Army National Guard. Mr. Markle was married June 21, 1952 to the former Lydia McQueen and was a longtime resident of the Fayette County area. He was a member of the Williston Baptist Church.
Mr. Markle was employed at Ford Motor Company in Memphis and Ohio in earlier years and was a residential contractor for over 30 years before his retirement. He loved to buy, sell and trade throughout his life, gardening, animals, especially roosters and goats, and talking with his family and friends.
Mr. Markle is survived by two daughters, Debra Warf (Harry) of Williston, Sissy Burns (Rickey) of Williston; his sister, Elizabeth South of Memphis; his brother, Thomas Markle of Illinois; five grandchildren, Donnie Warf (Cortney), Dale Burns (Michelle), Kelly Warf, Chris Burns, Kimberly Murphy (Bernard); twelve great-grandchildren, Shane Warf, Dallas Warf, Carlee Warf, Hunter Warf, Reno Tice, Sierra Tice, Carson Tice, Kaylah Burns, Kirsten Burns, Dalton Burns, Cory Murphy, Jase Murphy; and two great-great grandchildren, Harper Warf and Mason Tice.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lydia McQueen Markle; his parents, Claudie Hamilton Markle and Gaither Kee Markle; his sister, Hazel Awson; and three brothers, Lawrence Markle, Otis Markle and Vernon Markle.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers were Donnie Warf, Dale Burns, Chris Burns, Shane Warf, Bernard Murphy, Reno Tice and Carson Tice. Honorary pallbearers were Dalton Burns, Hunter Warf, Cory Murphy, Jase Murphy and Mason Tice.
The family requests that memorials be directed to the Williston Baptist Church, 6560 Highway 76, Somerville, TN 38068.
