Clyde Boyd Gullett

Clyde Boyd Gullett, age 73, resident of Oakland and husband of Hazel Viola Busby Gullett, departed this life Saturday morning, December 26, 2015 at the National HealthCare Center in Somerville.

Services of Remembrance for Mr. Gullett were conducted at 2 P.M. Monday, December 28, 2015 at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with Bro. Carl Doyle of Oakland officiating. Interment followed in the Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes & Cremation Center – West Chapel at Oakland.

Mr. Gullett was born August 9, 1942 in Memphis. He received his education in the Memphis City School System and was married September 21, 1984 to the former Hazel Viola Busby. He was employed as a truck driver for Southern Concrete before his retirement. Mr. Gullett was a Christian and was a resident of Oakland since 1977. He enjoyed special times with his family and outdoor activities that included fishing, hunting, barbecuing and his truck driving career.

Mr. Gullett is survived by his wife of 31 years, Hazel Viola Busby Gullett of Oakland; four daughters, Marilyn Wilson of Somerville, Debbie Gullett of Jackson, TN, Sue Thompson (Redford) of Oakland, Tina Dowdy (Johnny) of Somerville; two sons, Alan Gullett of Jackson, TN, Jimmy Busby of Oakland; two brothers, Barry Gullett of Kingsport, TN, George Gullett of Memphis; ten grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Doyle Gullett and Ella Louise Lipford Gullett and three brothers, Velton Gullett, Glenn Gullett and Richard Gullett.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers were William Thompson, John Thompson, Michael Thompson, Redford Thompson, Brandon Williams and Samuel Neal.

Honorary pallbearers were Jimmy Busby, Johnny Dowdy, Bradley Loudermilk and Junior Busby.

The family requests that memorials be directed to the church, charity or organization of the donor’s choice.
