Columbus Paul Chandler, Jr.

July 22, 1939 — January 5, 2013

Columbus Paul (C.P.) Chandler, Jr., resident of Memphis with extended family members in Fayette and Hardeman Counties and husband of Glenda Chandler died Saturday morning, January 5, 2013 at his residence. He was 73 years of age and died following a brief illness.

Services of Remembrance for Mr. Chandler were conducted at 1 P.M. Wednesday, January 9th at the Peebles Main Funeral Chapel in Somerville with Rev. Kent Bailey of Collierville officiating. Interment followed in the Melrose Cemetery at Whiteville. Arrangements were provided by Peebles Fayette County Funeral Homes and Cremation Center — Main Chapel of Somerville.

Mr. Chandler was born July 22, 1939 in Moscow, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by his parents, Columbus Paul Chandler, Sr. and Tennie E. Feathers Chandler. He received his education in the Whiteville and Somerville Public School System and was married to the former Glenda Boggs, his mate, friend and loving companion, who survives.

Mr. Chandler was in the Service Station and Trucking business for many years in the Memphis area until his retirement. He was a member of the Grimes Memorial United Methodist Church and will be remembered as a devoted and loving son, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Chandler is survived by his daughter, Tammy Jean Edwards; two sons, Columbus Paul “Chris” Chandler III (Rena), Charles W. “Chuck” Chandler; four sisters, Mary N. Taylor (James), Peggy H. Ryczek (John), Bettie C. Corbin, Patsy C. Springs; his brother, Charles R. Chandler; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Mr. Chandler was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul Allen Chandler and Donald Wayne Chandler; and his stepfather, James W. Ray.

Casketbearers were family members and friends and the family requests that memorials be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
