Conley Eugene Jones, resident of the Oakland Community, U.S. Veteran and retired Master Plumber, died Monday, March 12, 2012 at his residence. He was 64 years of age and died following an extended illness.
Services of Remembrance for
Mr. Jones
were conducted at 10 AM Saturday, March 17
th
at the Peebles West Funeral Chapel at Oakland with
Rev. Rodney VanWinkle, pastor of the Faith Church of God in Somerville
officiating. Interment with Military Honors were conducted at 10 AM Tuesday, March 20
th
at the West Tennessee Veteran’s Cemetery at Germantown.
Mr. Jones
was born January 17, 1948 in Shelby County. He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett Conley Jones and Myrtle Phillips Jones. He received his education at Southside High School in Memphis. Mr. Jones was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Vietnam period.
Mr. Jones had been a Master Plumber for over twenty years and was associated with Hugo Plumbing Company and Baker Plumbing Company, both in Memphis, before his retirement ten years ago. He had been a resident of Fayette County for the past ten years and was of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Jones will be remembered as a person who enjoyed nature and outdoor activities that included fishing, camping and hunting. Special times with family members and friends and trips to the casinos and ocean beaches were favorite past times.
Mr. Jones is survived
by two daughters, Jennifer Jones of Cordova and Shelia Stahl of Germantown; five sisters, Shirley Hopper of Oakland, Brenda Fuller of Munford and Barbara Max, Nancy Kennemore and Carolyn Jones of Memphis; and six brothers, Fred Jones, Clyde Jones, Alfred Jones, Jim Jones and Roger Jones all of Memphis, and Wayne Jones of Atoka. He also leaves four grandchildren.
